vCard QR code

vCard QR code

Fill in the contact. The QR holds a vCard 3.0 file, not a website. Phones offer “Add to contacts” when they scan it. Nothing is uploaded.

Content

Your QR code updates as you type. Built in your browser — nothing is stored.

Static code — the data is baked in. Nothing is uploaded, and there is no link to edit later.

vCard vs a QR on a business card

This page encodes the person. The number and email are stuck in the printed pattern. If you want a card whose link can change — a booking page this month, a portfolio next — use a dynamic QR code for a business card instead, and keep the vCard for one-off intros.

What scanners do with it

iOS and Android parse BEGIN:VCARD and show a contact sheet. A name is enough; phone, email and organisation are optional. Use an international number if the card will be scanned abroad.

How to make a vCard QR code

  1. Add a nameThis is the display name on the contact sheet. Company-only cards still need a name — use the person or the desk.
  2. Add phone, email, organisationAll optional. Skip what you do not want saved on a stranger’s phone.
  3. DownloadSVG for print, PNG for slides. Test-scan once before you send the file to a printer.

Questions

Does scanning open a website?

No. The payload is a vCard, so the phone offers to save a contact. If you need a link (site, calendar, LinkedIn), make a dynamic code and point it there.

Can I update the number later?

Not on this static code. Print a new one, or put a changeable link on the card instead.

Is my contact uploaded?

No. The vCard is built in the browser, same as a Wi-Fi code.

What’s the difference between this and a business-card QR?

vCard = the contact itself. Business-card QR = a short link on the card that you can retarget after the cards are printed.
